COVIES was made in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. The whole series had a final budget of €32K. We managed to squeeze every penny out of that budget.
Using professional actors alongside locals, some of whom had never acted before, the idea was to promote the town of Westport and to get something going during the current recession. Many have gone on to better things.
COVIES itself has been recognised for what it is - winning a prestigious 2010 Allianz Business to Arts Award for Creativity. It was also highly recommended in the Chicago Irish Film Festival and the feature version was premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2010.
